Obviously the park was all gated, but we drove through the animal pens with strict orders to stay in the car and keep our car windows rolled up! We first drove past Bison, and then Deer, Elk, and then on to the BEARS!
Our kids were more excited than they were in the real "Yellowstone" (which Brent affectionately calls 'Jelly stone'... don't ask!) But they LOVED Bear World!
After seeing the Grizzly Bear we got to the Black Bears. Some were kept to certain areas of the Habitat, others were free to roam as they walked around our cars and played with each other.
A tour group loaded on the top of a 'very tall' truck were throwing food to the bears (an added $25 fee for families who wanted to feed the bears.) This bear was making his way over to the hand-outs. He just walks right past our car and the kids yelled with delight!
We were surrounded! Keala loved every minute of it. Kai thought it was cool, and after a while went back to his Nintendo DS... I can already see the future of this boys life!
Brent and I thought it was just as awesome as well. We drove through the habitat twice as you were able to drive through as many times as you wanted. But not after we stopped at the Gift Store and sat down at some picnic tables and had lunch.
Of course there was the petting zoo... here they had a pen of baby bears who just played and played all day!
They really were small in perspective, this photo makes the cubs looks big.
At the petting zoo my kids saw pigs, ducks, roosters, chickens, fawn, deer, and more!
Keala's dream come true! I felt so bad I didn't tell anyone else about this place!
This baby fawn acted like she was protecting her mother and head butted the kids away if they didn't offer food to her.
I told Keala to stay away... she wanted to pet the deer so bad! There were quite a few in the petting zoo area that the kids could feed. I was amazed at how acclimated they were to people.
I found the cubs play-fighting... why do they look so cute and cuddly!
Just makes you want to get in there and wrestle with them! I'm game... (get it?!)
At last, there were a few 'kiddie' rides... and when I say 'kiddie' I mean toddler!
Every thing went around in the smallest circles, but it was fun for the kids and thats what counts!
This train also went in circles... of course it also stops when someone stands up on the ride... like my son! (Of course it was my son, who else's son would it be!)
A second time around on the rides and Brent was ready to get back on the road!
But so worth the hour we spent here! One more drive through the habitat and we were on our way home!
Not before getting on the slowest of slow rides... but Kai made friends with the kids sitting next to him. They are from Salt Lake too, so Kai wanted their number to go visit them... didn't happen. (Mom's a stinker sometimes!)
Oh wait, theres one more picture! Happy trails to you! (I mean... 'Happy Tails'!)
