Pinewood Derby 2013

Mom is so proud of the car she made for Kai. (This is the last year!)

Awards were a variety of candy coated popcorn, all different flavors.

(You can call me crazy!) But the kids loved it!

Brent went fishing Sunday night, so Monday night we had our friend and her two boys over for dinner and family night.

 

It was pure mayhem!

 

If you can't clearly see these images its because Keala comandeered my phone and took distorted shots... and these are what they look like. Weird girl.

Brent's Friends...

 

Saturday afternoon we were getting ready to go to a Family Reunion of one of Brent's friends when I found Keala dressed like this.

 

Brent's friend John likes to eat Keala's ears and it freaks her out. Here is what she did to remedy the situation.

 

This is her pose after I just asked for a shot... such a poser! But I had to show Brent what she looked like.

 

 

Unfortunately this is the only shot I took of John's family. They were throwing a 50th wedding anniversary of his parents.  John's parents are a couple years younger than Brent's parents.

 

 

Of course you recognize this person. I am barely starting to recognize people from John's family after driving up to his house in Kamas about once or twice a year.

 

So the kids found a fun game to play riding this toddler trike down the hill.

 

 

Keala did the best job.

 

 

This is about the third time I did it, but not the best. I now have 2 huge bruises on my bum to show for all my goofing off. (They are each the size of an orange!)

 

 

Meeja's Wedding, June 18th

 

Tuesday June 18th my best friend Meeja married Scott Fortie in the Oquirre Mountain Temple.

 

Meeja and I divorced the same time in 2005 (and we even had the same divorce lawyer!) We met through Erika and have been friends ever since!  This is her son Sam here who is the same age and Kai and has the same interests as him too. They are good friends as well.

 

It has taken Meeja a long time to find the right guy to marry but with Scott she hit a home run!  This is the happiest I have seen her ever since I've known her! We loved her wedding day!

 

After the temple sealing we had a luncheon at Thanksgiving Point in the Rose Room with just family and some of Meeja's closest friends. Everyone was so happy for her!

 

The wind was really strong that day but doesn't seem to affect Meeja at all.

 

We are hiding from the wind, but Meeja and Scott were all smiles - it just fills me with joy when people find their 'happily ever after'. They enjoyed a relaxing honeymoon in Las Vegas touring the dam and seeing some of the shows. Congratulations to you both!

 

Kai's Birthday party

 

Kai loved that his pile of Birthday presents grew larger and larger. Gran'ma Joan took him shopping earlier in the day and he picked out all her presents.  He acted so excited when he reopened them after he asked her to wrap them all up!  It almost suprised me how suprised he was!

 

I wrapped up a bunch of clothes and food snacks (which he still loved), like fruit roll-ups, microwave popcorn, Ritz crackers, etc.  He was a good sport.  We opened gifts after eating dinner with Joan and Bill and Gran'ma Bobbi.  Kai could not wait to dive into his presents!

 

The big home-run gift was a "Star Wars" cookbook that came with 'Ice Sabers' you could use to make popscicles. Everything in the cookbook is a huge sugary treat... should have thought more about that!

 

Sorry for the leftover cupcakes from Fathers Day... Sometimes moms have to cut corners. But Kai's smile shows he's having a good time. We celebrated his birthday Monday night since he was with his dad on Sunday and already had one birthday party at his dad's house. Lucky dog!

Kasey and Brayden's Reception

 

Kasey and Brayden had their wedding recepion at Noah's near the I-15 and 11400th South.  Noah's is a new reception center that has been growing in popularity over the last couple years.

 

You couldn't have found bigger smiles on a newly wed couple than these guys! 

 They were champs all day through all the stress of the activities.

 

One of our favorite things about the wedding were the colors Kasey picked out... black, white, gray, and yellow. Everyone blended well and the colors were stunning!

Joni and Leslie helped Gran'ma Joan set out the food. Joan has worked her tail feathers off over the last couple of weeks cooking up brownies, lemon bars, and preparing mini deli sandwiches and fruit cups for the wedding. Her sister Karen helped her run the whole show, both did an outstanding job!

 

Brent's dance with Kasey filled the room wih tears.

 

Everyone has so much love for this family, still with bittersweet feelings as Brent's children celebrate their biggest memories without their mother here.

 

 There were a lot of reflections throughout the day of Brent's late wife and memories his family has of her. Brent continues to carry the family through every moment with big smiles, and an ever-charming positive flare. The character of his kids and their strength only fills everyone with pride.

 

Brayden's buddies throw him up in the air. Lets get this party started!

 

Kasey and Brayden have a fantastic group of friends. They were all smiles all day long.

And lets be honest... they know how to get a party started!

Off to the honeymoon, with a bubble-blowing exit! Kasey and Brayden stayed in a hotel in Utah county their first night, then drove to Vegas, then its down to California for beach and Disneyland adventures! Congratulations to them, we couldn't be more happy for you both!
